The Moche were a society on the north coastal desert of Peru between the first and eigth centuries A.D. They were quite skilled in producing elaborately decorated vessels made using molds, and often featured animal, plant, and human figures. Although many were placed in burials, most were made to be used in daily domestic life. This particular one is one of a subset of ceramics that display sexual acts; female to male fellatio is very common. Given the expression on their faces, if done today, this one would probably earn the hashtag #MeToo.
My husband bought this replica while he was doing field work in Peru.
