The Madamas are a distinct category in the practice. They represent the Black grandmother and all the female healers. They are skilled in herbs, cleansing, and to always bring “paz al hogan” (Peace to the adobe). Madamas are the Creole spirits. They are us and mediate between the Indios and the Congos.
