Icon of St. Nicholas-FLK106

St. Nicholas is the patron Saint of the Greek Orthodox Church. St. Nicholas is also the patron saint of sailors, merchants, archers and thieves. He is associated with Santa Claus, and the Dutch call him Sinterklaas. He arrives in the Netherlands on December 6th by boat and then switches to his white horse to deliver gifts to children who are good, as determined by their parents. I purchased this icon during the 1960s at a Greek gift shop near St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Los Angeles. My mom was very upset when she noticed it pinned to my kitchen bulletin board. She asked me to take it down, which I did. Then I transferred it to my office bulletin board.
