The Allgemeines Deutsche Kommersbuch is the songbook for use by German fraternity students. It first appeared in 1858 and is now in its 166 edition. Note the Biernägel (beer nails) which raise the cover so that spilled beer runs under the book. Also pictured is the meerschaum pipe used by my Grandfather-in-law during his student years in Berlin in the late 19th century.
