I am so lucky.

In the rubble, “I am so lucky”: Inexpensive “junk” from the top drawer of a display hutch includes various utensils, marbles, dishes, and a cheap, heart-shaped ceramic dish declaring “I am so lucky.” When I first found this, I was appalled that such an average piece of pottery, which I personally did not like, could have survived the inferno. Why not my grandma’s “good” dishes that we all loved? But soon the irony of the words won us over and we began to look at our situation more positively. My mom, had she been alive, would have approved of that.
