When I was a child I loved to go through my mom’s jewelry box. This little gold heart seemed so delicate to me, and I was intrigued that you could read the words printed on something so small. I also loved the story that mom had gotten it on a childhood visit to Yosemite, a place that we were taught was the most special place in California. I suspect that I would not have found this tiny heart in the ashes if I had not put it on a paperclip and kept it in my jewelry box.
