Kwanzaa is a holiday invented by Dr. Maulana Karenga (Ron Karenga) during the 1960s, and it celebrates the African diaspora, their heritage, and achievements. It is a time of special reverence for the Creator and creation. It begins on December 26th and lasts through January 1st. They have 7 symbolic objects including a seven-candle holder. Called a Kinara (in Swahili), it represents continental Africans.
