Sadly, Kox, another white outsider artist, died suddenly a few months after painting this image. Like Finster, Kox planned on installing a large number of his works in his own museum. His would be in Gillett, Wisconsin, but he passed away before completing the installation. In this work Kox imposes his unconventional Biblical interpretation on a head of Christ consciously based on the iconic representation created by Warner Sallman. Like Finster, Kox advocates clean living.
